My First Experience As A Biker
As a mild mannered professional working at a law firm I rarely get the opportunity to break out into areas outside my comfort zone. However, I promised myself I would change this. At the outset, I decided to make a list of all things I wanted to do. Then I realized, this is exactly what I did not want to do. Make a list.
So I darted out of the office and jumped in my SUV and let the road take me. At that moment, I remembered the thrill and joy of the open road I had once experienced as a teenager. I remember the first time I learned to drive and how cool I thought it was. Rolling down the windows looking at the road ahead. I felt freedom then. How can I feel that way again.
I stopped at the red light and a man in a loud motorcycle stopped in the lane next to me. He was not the generic biker type. He was very well dressed with a leather jacket and boots that were very stylish. He seemed to be in very good shape but it was hard to tell his age as his face was covered with a black helmet. He had a passenger in the back. She also seemed to be quite attractive. She appeared to be wearing a similar outfit.
It seemed like the perfect thing to do to reclaim the road. I thought I would find one to rent for the weekend and see how it felt. I drove myself home. Upon entering the garage, I noticed other failed attempts at reclaiming this feeling. There was a bright jet ski on the side, fishing rods, and even alpine skiing equipment. After taking a brief respite, I searched for the local motorcycle dealerships.
I was convinced that this time I would prevail. It was something that seemed very convenient. I did not need access to a snow covered mountain or a body of water. I could go for a ride anytime I wanted and enjoy the feel of the open road. I pulled out a business directory and searched for some local dealers. I selected the nearest one that was a popular domestic brand. This was the one I desired.
I asked a lot of questions to the salesperson. He was very well informed and had on a stylish men's sport watch. He gave me an idea of the general costs, the differences between the bikes, and the type of riding I wanted to experience. I said I wanted to feel the joy and freedom of the open road. He pointed me to a high handle bar low rider. I could see myself in it already. I asked if it was possible for me to try out for a few days.
He replied quite affirmatively. He had received similar inquiries before. There were many customers who wanted to try on the bike before making a full purchase. Making an immediate commitment seemed a little out of place given the freedom they were looking to sell. Also, there are the considerations of one's spouse and relatives. I signed the appropriate papers and went out on the open road.
